Preseason: Osimhen missing as Conte Leads Napoli in debut Match

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, was absent from Napoli’s inaugural pre-season match on Tuesday, reportedly sidelined due to fitness concerns, as reported by Soccernet.

Napoli faced off against local Italian side Anaune Val Di Non, marking Antonio Conte’s debut as manager. Osimhen, originally listed as a substitute, was observed to be seated in the stands rather than on the bench.

The Nigerian player has been undergoing separate training sessions from the main squad in recent days, focusing on addressing his fitness issues. Earlier, he had been seen leaving training early with an ankle injury, employing an ice pack for treatment.

In Osimhen’s absence, Conte’s team secured a commanding 4-0 victory, with goals from Leonardo Spinazzola, Walid Cheddira, Gianluca Gaetano, and Cyril Ngonge contributing to the scoreline.
