Rivers United boss, Eguma reflects on tough win against Sunshine Stars

Date:

Rivers United head coach, Stanley Eguma has reacted to his team’s hard earned victory against Sunshine Stars.

The title holders booked a spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League Super Six playoff after a slim 1-0 win against the Owena Waves in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

Morice Chukwu netted the winner for the hosts in the second half.

Eguma said their opponents made things difficult for them even as he claimed they could have scored more goals.

“It was a tough game and we expected it because Sunshine Stars was also eyeing the Super Six play-off and they played hard but the game was under our control,” Eguma said after the game.

“The players did very well but Sunshine Stars were just lucky, it would have been dozens of goals, I commended the players”, he said.

Rivers United will host Doma United in another rescheduled game on Thursday.

The Port Harcourt club will round up their campaign against Rangers on Sunday.
