Rumble in Japan : Oyekola ‘Scorpion’ defeats Watanabe by Our Reporter September 6, 2022 written by Our Reporter September 6, 2022 155WBF International Super featherweight Champion, Nigeria’s boxing sensation Ridwan ‘Scorpion’ Oyekola defeated his Japanese opponent Daisuke Watanabe through unanimous decision in 8-Round Super-featherweight Contest fight at the Gateaux Kingdom Sapporo Hokkaido, Japan on Sunday, Sportinglife.ng reports.Despite fighting in his hometown of Sapporo, the Japanese could not withstand his opponent as the judges scored the Nigerian 78-75, 78-74, 78-73 after 8 tough rounds of actions under Hiranaka Boxing School promotions cards. Coming into the fight, the Ibadan- born boxer was on training tour in Dubai, UAE, where he had sparring sessions with top boxers including the current WBC International Super featherweight champion, Shakur Stevenson. The 25-year-old boxer won the WBF title on December 27, 2020 when he defeated Argentina’s Lucas Mattias Montesino at the Ilaji Hotels ans Sports Resort in Ibadan.
