Russian Cup final victory thrills Victor Moses

Despite the Ukraine/Russia war that has put sporting activities in limbo Former Super Eagles winger, Victor Moses and his Spartak Moscow teammates had cause to celebrate after lifting the Russian Cup at the expense of Dynamo Moscow on Sunday.

Spartak Moscow defeated Dynamo Moscow 2-1 at the Luzhniki Stadium to emerge champions to the delight of their supporters.

Russian striker Aleksandr Sobolev scored the first goal in the 10th minute but Armenian midfielder Arsen Zakharayan restored parity for Dynamo Moscow ten minutes into the second half.

Quincy Promes scored from an Aleksandr Sobolev assist to make it 2-1 in the 72nd minute.

Daniil Fomin missed a penalty for Dynamo in the 99th minute as the game ended 2-1 in the 101st minute.

Moses who was in action for the entire duration of the match celebrated the victory on his Twitter handle.

“Cup Final Winners!,” he enthused.

The former Chelsea ace scored three goals and recorded five assists in 34 games for Spartak Moscow this season with the club finishing 10th in the 16 team Russian Premier League with 38 points after 30 games. Moses who was called into the national team in 2012, scored 12 goals for the Eagles in 37 appearances before calling it quits after the World cup hosted by Russia in 2018.
