Arsenal’s Nigeria-eligible center forward Folarin Balogun has been named the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for November 2021.
The Premier League also informed via their official website that the England U21 international is the top scorer in the history of the Premier League 2.
Balogun’s 35 goals in the division is eight clear of Arsenal team-mate Eddie Nketiah and Stoke City’s Tyrese Campbell in joint-second.
The Anglo-American-Nigerian saw off competition from Ziyad Larkeche (Fulham), Sonny Perkins (West Ham United), Luke Plange (Derby County), Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (Crystal Palace), Jan Rowe (Norwich City), Thierry Small (Southampton) and Harvey White (Tottenham Hotspur) to win the monthly accolade.
In November, Balogun was directly involved in seven goals (6 goals, 1 assist) in four matches across all competitions, including a hat-trick against Derby County U23s.
Balogun was selected as winner by the Premier League Football Development Panel after PL2 club coaches chose the best performance by an opposing player in each of their league matches during the month.
The Hale End Academy graduate is the second player of Nigerian descent to win the Premier League 2 Player of the Month this season, following in the footsteps of Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka who won the award for September 2021.
