Transfer: Troost-Ekong rejects Turkey move

Date:

Super Eagles vice-captain, William Troost-Ekong, turned down a loan move to Turkish this summer.

According to The Athletic, a number of Turkish Super Lig clubs were keen on luring the centre-back from Watford for at least a season but he rebuffed the move.

Turkish Super Lig champions, Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce are among the top clubs who showed interest in the defender.

Kasimpasa and Ankaragucu are the two other clubs he turned down.

Troost-Ekong has struggled for regular game time at Watford since returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty with Nigeria early this year.

The player has made just one appearance in the Sky Bet Championship this season.

He once played in Turkey for Bursaspor.

The former Udinese star has a contract with the London club until June 2025.
