Mohamed Salah has had enough of Liverpool’s negotiating tactics and is ready to force a move away this summer.
The Athletic says the 29-year-old would rather remain in the Premier League than move overseas when his deal at Anfield expires – putting Liverpool’s rivals on red alert.
Salah has been in talks with Liverpool for more than 12 months about extending the terms of his current contract but has yet to sign a new deal.
There have been no face-to-face talks between Salah and Liverpool in six months.
The last time his new contract was discussed, there was a huge gap between what Salah wanted and what the club were willing to offer, although exact numbers remain unclear.
It is thought Salah, who has scored 156 goals in 254 games since joining Liverpool from Roma in a £43.9 million switch in the summer of 2017, is looking to become the sixth-highest paid player in the world.
Salah, who has claimed he is not asking for ‘crazy’ terms, is open to signing a two-year extension and is not after the security of a four-year deal.
