Former U-20 Assistant coach Samuel Abimbola has commended the organisers of the Unity Preseason tournament for NLO Division 1 clubs for their foresight and interest in the development of the game from the grassroots.
Abimbola expressed delight at the level of preparation that the organisers are putting together to ensure that participating teams from the North Central fully prepare their teams for the new NLO football season which is expected to commence in April.
Quoting his words, the former Technical Adviser to Sunshine stars said “the timing of the preseason tournament is the best thing that can happen to our teams. If the NLO Division One League is starting in April, and we are having this tournament upto the first week of March, that means all participating teams will have adequate time to correct the lapses noticed before the commencement of the League season”.
The 2009 U-17 Silver Winning Assistant Coach who now handles The King FC of Abuja advised NLO Division One clubs in the zone to make good use of the opportunity to build a solid team for the new season “our league will be very competitive this season, and we will need the opportunity provided by the tournament to prepare adequately for it” he concluded.
Abimbola led his team The King FC to play in one of the finals of the NLO Division One promotion play off last season only losing one zero in Jos.
The Unity Preseason Tournament for NLO Division One clubs will begin on 24 February in Gwagwalada, Abuja. The tournament is organised in collaboration with the North Central representative in the NLO Board Barrister Babatunde Akintade.
