WAFCON 2022: Super Falcons open camp in Abuja with 19 players

Super Falcons, title holders have commenced preparation in Abuja ahead of the defence of their title at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.

19 players are currently in the team’s camp with the rest expected this weekend and early next week.

Head coach, Randy Waldrum has a herculean task ahead of him in picking his final squad for the competition going by the array of talented players at his disposal.

The Super Falcons, who won nine of the 11 WAFCON held so far are pitted in Group C along with South Africa and debutants, Botswana and Burundi.

The Nigerian ladies will open their campaign against the Banyana Banyana of South Africa at Prince Moulay Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat on July 4.

Morocco will host the competition from July 2 to July 23.

All four semi-finalists at the tournament will qualify to represent Africa at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand in the summer of 2023.
