Chelsea completed an unbeaten Women’s Super League season after Aggie Beever-Jones scored a stoppage-time winner in a 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Having already clinched their sixth consecutive league title with two games to spare, the Blues capped off the campaign in style, maintaining their dominance under new manager Sonia Bompastor, who replaced Emma Hayes this season.
Liverpool held firm for most of the match, but academy graduate Beever-Jones sealed the win late on, as Chelsea became the first team to go unbeaten in a full 22-game WSL season.
Bompastor’s team lifted the trophy after the match.
Chelsea, who also won the League Cup, will aim to complete a domestic treble when they face Manchester United in the FA Cup final on May 18.
Chelsea’s hopes of securing a historic quadruple were dashed after an 8-2 aggregate defeat to Barcelona in the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Meanwhile, Arsenal sealed a second-place finish in the WSL with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium, holding off a spirited late comeback from the visitors.
