Chairman of Akwa United Elder Paul Bassey has sent a special message to fans of the club ahead of their crunch CAF Champions League encounter against Algerian champions CR Belouizdad.
In an exclusive chat with, Bassey ,”It’s unfortunate for those who cannot make it because CAF has given us only a 10,000 capacity. We need your prayers, we need your support.

“We will not disappoint. As Nigerian champions, there’s a lot on our shoulders. The Nigerian flag is heavy but we are determined to do our best and make Nigeria proud. At the end of the day it’s not just Akwa United, it’s Nigeria. It’s not only Akwa Ibom.

Bassey further added:

“We need the support of Nigerians all over – in Uyo, Lagos, Abuja, Calabar. We need their support. With God on our side, three goals may not even be enough. We must win and win well.”

The Akwa United versus CR Belouizdad tie kicks off at 3pm today at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
