The head coach of Algerian football Champions, CR Belouizdad, Bekhti Karim,has described the venue of the CAF Champions League first leg preliminary round, the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo also known as the Nest of Champions as one of the best in Africa.
Speaking during the pre-match conference at the Stadium ahead of the continental encounter between Akwa United of Nigeria and CR Belouizdad of Algeria, Karim commended the warm reception and hospitality his team has enjoyed since arriving Uyo.
“This is a good stadium, I have been to many stadiums in Africa and I must be honest, it is difficult to find this kind of edifice, so this is good and will enable good football match. It is one of the best in the continent.”
Karim who will be missing the services of his two key players, Bakir and Mohammed Belkhir in Sunday’s encounter due to injury, however dismissed fear that their absence will affect his game plan and the team spirit.
CR Belouizdad will be featuring in their second CAF Champions League campaign in a row while Akwa United will be competing in the Africa’s premier club competition for the first time in their history.
The match kicks off by 3pm Nigerian time.
