…warns against artificial scarcity; urges Nigerians to report MRS’s non-compliant stations
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has begun selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at ₦739 per litre across all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations, a development aimed at easing the cost of fuel for Nigerians and stabilizing the downstream petroleum sector.
With over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide, the price reduction is expected to benefit consumers across the country. In a statement, the refinery praised marketers who have implemented the new pump price and urged others to follow suit to support national economic recovery.
“We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery,” the statement read.
The festive season is often associated with fuel scarcity and rising prices. Dangote Refinery’s intervention, backed by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, is aimed at averting typical holiday shortages while providing affordable fuel to households, businesses, and transport operators.

By producing fuel locally at scale, the refinery is reducing Nigeria’s reliance on volatile global markets, conserving foreign exchange, stabilizing the Naira, and strengthening energy security. The move promises steady supply and relief for consumers nationwide.
The refinery also warned against attempts to create artificial scarcity in response to the price reduction, urging regulatory authorities to enforce compliance.
“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period,” the statement added.
Consumers were advised to avoid paying inflated prices when cheaper, high-quality PMS is available.
“We encourage Nigerians to resist buying fuel at excessively high prices when they can access locally refined PMS at ₦739 per litre from over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide. Report any MRS station selling above this price by calling 0800 123 5264,” the refinery said.
The refinery further called on other petrol station operators to stock its products to ensure the benefits of the price cut reach all Nigerians, contributing to a more stable downstream market.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery reiterated its commitment to steady supply, price moderation, and energy security, emphasizing that its operations are guided by long-term national interest.
“Our objective remains clear: to ensure consistent supply of high-quality petroleum products at affordable prices for Nigerians, while supporting economic stability and reducing dependence on imports,” the refinery concluded.
