The Super Eagles of Nigeria have climbed to third place in Africa and 26th globally in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings released on Monday.
The national team surged 12 spots from 38th to 26th following an impressive showing at the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco, where they finished third overall.

Nigeria recorded the highest points gain in the latest ranking (+79.09), reflecting a strong performance at the continental tournament. Under Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles won six of seven matches, defeating Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Mozambique, Algeria, and Egypt, before narrowly losing the semi-final to hosts Morocco on penalties.
On the African continent, Nigeria now ranks third behind AFCON champions Senegal, 12th globally, and Morocco, 8th in the world. Algeria and Egypt occupy fourth and fifth positions in the latest continental ranking.
Globally, Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Morocco, Belgium, and Germany make up the world’s top 10 teams.
