Barcelona midfielder, Gavi, has been announced as the winner of the 2022 Golden Boy award on Friday.
Earlier this week, the 17-year-old won the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
The Golden Boy award, which is presented by Italian newspaper Tuttosport, is given to the best player aged 21 and under that is based in Europe.
Gavi beat competition from Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga and Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala.
“I want to thank Tuttosport. I want to thank my family, who are there in the good and bad times.
“I want to thank Barca, my teammates as without them this wouldn’t be possible. It’s an honour for me to get this award that any young player desires,” Gavi said in a video message.
Gavi broke into Barca’s first-team in July 2021.
He made 47 appearances, scoring two goals for the Catalan club in all competitions last season.
