Nottingham Forest boss Reveals Awoniyi Faces new injury setback

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has disclosed that Taiwo Awoniyi is facing another injury setback, indicating the striker’s ongoing struggle with fitness issues following a challenging previous season.

Awoniyi, 27, was notably absent from Forest’s inaugural pre-season match against Chesterfield last Saturday due to a calf injury confirmed by Santo.

“He had an issue during the first training session of the week. We’ll have to monitor his recovery,” Santo stated in remarks reported by Nottingham Post. “Unfortunately, he wasn’t available for today’s game. Hopefully, he won’t be sidelined for an extended period during pre-season. This period is crucial for all players, particularly Taiwo.”

Awoniyi, who battled fitness concerns throughout the previous campaign, has emerged as a focal point of concern for Santo as Forest prepares for the upcoming season.
