Shettima also honoured the sacrifices of fallen soldiers who gave their lives to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity, citizens, and property.

The Federal Government observes January 15 annually to recognise the service of the nation’s armed forces. Recently, the day was renamed “Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day” to reflect its dual purpose of celebrating active personnel while remembering those who have paid the ultimate price.

Speaking at the event, Shettima expressed confidence that, under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria would achieve lasting peace and prosperity.

“Our prayer is for Allah to forgive our deceased officers and men, and may He grant their families the strength to bear the loss,” Shettima said.

He added, “We also pray for the Almighty to continue to protect and empower our armed forces to tackle the crises confronting our nation. By God’s grace, Nigeria will experience enduring peace and prosperity.”
